KLA/C-DAC Workshop on Information Security Awareness, 1 Dec.2012, Thiruvananthapuram

Kerala Library Association (KLA) in collaboration with the Centre for Development for Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Hyderabad is organizing a Half  Day Workshop on “Information Security Awareness” on 1st December 2012 in Thiruvananthapuram.

Objectives:

To give awareness about the common online information security issues.
To equip the participants with tools and techniques to tackle different information security issues.

Who should participate:
The Workshop is primarily intended for Library and Information Science Professionals, Researchers and LIS Students. Maximum intake is 40 on a first come first served basis.

10:00AM – 11:30AM: Introduction, why awareness is important, what do you use internet for , Basic Security concepts, layer wise attacks. Major common online attacks, Identity theft, phishing, malicious applications.
11:30AM – 11:45AM: Tea Break
11:45AM – 1:15PM: Password attacks, tips, Email and Chat risks, cyber bullying (Examples, Tips) , Importance of Copyrights, Social Networking risks, (Examples, Tips) Secure PC, Firewall, Updates, Antivirus. Interaction and feedback.
1:15PM – 1:30PM: Concluding session
