Kerala Library Association Centre for Professional Development (KLA-CPD) announces a Two Day Workshop on KOHA, the Open Source Library Management Software, on November 8 and 9, 2014. The programme will be held at the KLA Centre for Professional Development (KLA-CPD), on the premises of KLA Head Quarters, Thiruvananthapuram.

National Seminar on Managing Innovation in New Generation Libraries, 16-17 December 2014, Kochi

Kerala Library Association in association with Rajagiri College of Social Sciences will be organising a National level seminar on Managing Innovation in New Generation Libraries on 16-17 December 2014 at the Rajagiri Campus, Kalamassery, Kochi.

About the seminar

The digital revolution coupled with the new paradigms of users’ interaction with information, has vastly transformed the very design and the nature of contents and services offered by present day libraries. In order to cope with multiple challenges posed by new technologies, tech-savvy users, emerging formats and new media, libraries are compelled to reengineer their approaches to information handling and knowledge management with diligence. The information providers and aggregators have already responded positively to this scenario by imbibing the technological shifts and diverse media proliferation. Being managers of information, librarians need to master different ways of managing new information products, information packaging, new media etc.
This seminar is an attempt in this direction to equip library professionals with necessary skills and knowledge to serve their clients more efficiently.

Kerala Library Association, a pioneer professional body in Kerala, represents the interest of qualified librarians. It has been setting the standards for the profession, providing leadership in developing a vibrant library system in the state, and imparting continuing education programs for professionals for the last several decades. The participants will be provided with working lunch, refreshments and softcopies of papers to be presented at the Workshop.

The conference volume may include invited papers of Academicians/Library & Information Science Professionals and Scholars in the field. The seminar proceedings will be provided on cost sharing basis.

GUIDELINES:

Authors are requested to submit Papers composed in MS Word with references in APA Style. The paper with an abstract of not more than 200 words and at least five key words should not exceed 4000 words. It should be formatted in Times New Roman, with 12 font size in A4 size page, 1.5 line spacing, and 1” margin on all sides. The Title should be 14 point bold Capital.  Except the name of author/s, all other elements such as designation, affiliation, email, & contact No. etc. should be in 10 point Italic.

The papers may be sent by e-mail to klaernseminar@gmail.com so as to reach us by 15th November 2014.  A declaration by the author(s) should be made separately that the paper(s) has/have not been sent elsewhere for publication.
We are also planning to bring out the seminar proceedings as a book and for that purpose we would like to have the copyright of the submitted article(s).
The decision of the Editorial team will be final and will be intimated to the first author in due course of time.

25th November, 2014 : Notification of Acceptance

Only original articles selected by the editorial team will be accepted for the seminar, and at least one author should register for the seminar.
